The Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts (RRCA) will offer the Calvin University: January Series online for patrons. “It’s our goal to reopen on February 6 with the Face Mask exhibit. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor Government orders and plan for a safe return in February,” said Xavier Verna, Executive Director of the RRCA.

Each year Calvin University provides a publicly accessible series of various topics related to the Christian life and worldview.  The RRCA partnered with Calvin and launched the series at the theatre in January 2020. This year it runs from January 6 through 26, 2021, and because of COVID-19, you can access it in the safety and comfort of your homes.  They are offering an impressive lineup of speakers and topics. The series is free of charge, but you need to register to watch it. Visit www.Calvin.edu/January for more information on the content, speakers list, and registration details.

The Ramsdell is also using this time to make significant sound upgrades to the theatre. The project is supported in part by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the Manistee County Community Foundation, and supporters from our local community. There are three main “acts” to this project:

  1. Replace the 20-year old PA system to improve quality and sound coverage in the theatre
  2. Install an induction loop system to benefit people who are hard-of-hearing
  3. New headset microphones for actors will improve quality and meet new FCC guidelines
