Usher
As an usher, you are an audience aid, working with the ticket collector to support and help patrons find their seats.
Attire:
- White Tops
- Black slacks/skirts
- Comfortable shoes
Arrival Time:
- Ushers arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes before showtime
- Lobby doors open 1 hour before showtime (subject to change)
- Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime
Departure Time:
- Plan on staying until the end of the show
- Help pick up programs, cups, and any trash from the theater
- Dispose of trash in the proper receptacles
- Non-latex gloves and trash bags will be provided by the RRCA
Responsibilities:
- Greet all patrons with a cheerful welcome
- Two ushers will scan tickets (scanners provided by the RRCA)
- Assist patrons in finding seats when needed
- Distribute programs
- Respond to patrons’ needs during events
- Straighten public areas during and after events
- Be aware, and alert management of any public safety concerns
- Aid in directing patrons to emergency exits if needed.
- Contact the House Manager (staff present) if you encounter any problems
Concessionaire
As a concessionaire, you will serve food and beverages to guests at the concession stand.
Attire:
- White Tops
- Black slacks/skirts
- Comfortable shoes
Arrival Time:
- Concessionaires arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes before showtime
- Lobby doors (concessions) open 1 hour before showtime
- Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime
Responsibilities:
- Greet all patrons with a cheerful welcome
- Maintain concession before the show and during intermissions
- Clean up the concession area (instructions provided) after intermission
- The bar manager will assign you a role (cashier, server) based on your experience
- NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES while volunteering
- Contact the House Manager (staff present) if you encounter any problems.
Tour Guide
As a Tour Guide, you will educate community members and visitors to the theatre about the history of the Ramsdell.
Enthusiastic personalities are encouraged!
Attire:
- White Tops
- Black slacks/skirts
- Comfortable shoes
Arrival Time:
- Tour Guides arrive 30 minutes before the tour to ensure all areas are ready with doors unlocked and lights on.
- Doors open at the time of tour
Key Information:
- Tours at the Ramsdell are fun, educational, inspiring, and essential to appreciate the rich history in Manistee!
- Tour Guides must be willing to dedicate time to learning the Ramsdell history
- This job may require handling cash transactions
- Contact the House Manager (staff present) if you encounter any problems.
Docent
As a docent, you will be responsible for the safety of the artwork displayed at the Ramsdell. Guests will come to you with questions that you should be prepared to answer. The RRCA will provide as much information as you need to be able to answer questions.
Attire:
- White Tops
- Black slacks/skirts
- Comfortable shoes
Arrival Time:
- The docent arrives 10 minutes before the exhibit opens to ensure all areas are ready with doors unlocked and lights on.
- Doors open at the designated exhibit time (Wednesday – Sunday from 12 pm – 3 pm)
Gallery open times are subject to change
Responsibilities:
- You will assist the RRCA in ensuring guests can safely enter and exit the art gallery
- Remind patrons that artwork is not to be touched
- Follow any policies as set forth by the artist or collector
- Turn lights off and lock doors once “showing” hours are finished
- Contact the House Manager (staff present) if you encounter any problems.
Box Office
As Box Office Attendant you will be responsible for all payment transactions related to the show. You will process cash, check, or credit card transactions with the aid of a computer and ticket printing machine.

Arrival Time:
- Box Office Attendant arrives 1 hour and 15 minutes before showtime
- Lobby doors open 1 hour before showtime
- Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime
Responsibilities:
- Sell tickets/print tickets from the box office computer
- Stocking box office with all essential items needed to sell tickets
- Greet patrons with a smile
- You will deal with cash and credit card transactions
- Contact the house manager (staff onsite) if there are any problems

Essential to the very existence and continued success of the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts are our beloved volunteers. Each year scores of volunteers from throughout the greater Manistee Community donate their time, talent and energy to help sustain the operations of the Ramsdell. Volunteers assist with ushering, box office, special events, housekeeping duties and various committees.
