Usher

As an usher, you are an audience aid, working with the ticket collector to support and help patrons find their seats.

Attire:

  • White Tops
  • Black slacks/skirts
  • Comfortable shoes

Arrival Time:

  • Ushers arrive 45 minutes before showtime
  • Lobby doors open 1 hour before showtime (subject to change)
  • Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime
  • If needed, a volunteer meeting will be held 15 minutes prior to theatre doors being opened.

(Time provisions are typical, and may be adjusted for particular events)

Responsibilities:

  • Greet all patron with a cheerful welcome
  • Take tickets (if designated)- verify correct show, date, and time
  • Assist patrons in finding seats when needed
  • Distribute programs
  • Respond to patrons needs during events
  • Straighten public areas during and after events
  • Oversee and enforce theatre rules and policies
  • Be aware, and alert management of any public safety concerns
  • Aid in directing patron to emergency exits if needed.
  • Contact the House Manager (Xavier or Laura) if you encounter any problems

Concessionaire

As a concessionaire, you will serve food and beverages to guests at the concession stand.

Attire:

  • White Tops
  • Black slacks/skirts
  • Comfortable shoes

Arrival Time:

  • Concessionaires arrive 1 hour before showtime
  • Lobby doors open 1 hour before showtime
  • Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime
  • If needed, a volunteer meeting will be held 15 minutes prior to theatre doors being opened.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet all patrons with a cheerful welcome
  • Maintain concession before the show and during intermissions
  • Setup/cleanup concession area
  • Reconcile cash/inventory
  • NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES while volunteering
  • Contact the House Manager (Xavier or Laura) if you encounter any problems.

Tour Guide

As a Tour Guide, you will educate community members and visitors to the theatre about the history of the Ramsdell.

Enthusiastic personalities are encouraged!

Arrival Time:

  • Tour Guides arrive 30 minutes before tour to ensure all areas are ready with doors unlocked and lights on.
  • Doors open at time of tour

Key Information:

  • Tours at the Ramsdell are fun, educational, inspiring, and essential to appreciate the rich history in Manistee!
  • Tour Guides must be willing to dedicate time learning the Ramsdell history
  • This job will require handling cash transactions
  • Contact the House Manager (Xavier or Laura) if you encounter any problems.

Docent

As a docent, you will be responsible for the safety of the artwork displayed at the Ramsdell.  Guests will come to you with questions that you should be prepared to answer.  The RRCA will provide as much information as you need to be able to answer questions.

  • Comfortable shoes

Arrival Time:

  • Docent arrives 30 minutes before the exhibit opens to ensure all areas are ready with doors unlocked and lights on.
  • Doors open at designated exhibit time

Responsibilities:

  • You will assist the RRCA in ensuring guests can safely enter and exit the art gallery (usually Hardy Hall)
  • Remind patrons that art work is not to be touched
  • Follow any policies as set forth by the artist or collector
  • Turn lights off and lock doors once “showing” hours are finished
  • Contact the House Manager (Xavier or Laura) if you encounter any problems.

Facility Steward

As a Facility Steward, you will be helping to maintain the public areas of the Ramsdell to meet with patron expectations.

Attire:

  • Work clothes and shoes

Arrival Time

  • Volunteers will arrive 10 minutes before shift to receive instructions, supplies, and location of work.

Cleaning responsibilities include:

  • Polishing all brass in the Ramsdell Theatre
  • Wash windows and doors
  • Dust
  • Vacuum

Box Office

As Box Office Attendant you will be responsible for all payment transactions related to the show.  You will process cash, check, or credit card transactions with the aid of a computer and ticket printing machine.

  • Black slacks/skirts
  • Comfortable shoes

Arrival Time:

  • Box Office Attendant arrives 1 hour before showtime
  • Lobby doors open 1 hour before showtime
  • Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime
  • If needed, a volunteer meeting will be held 15 minutes prior to theatre doors being opened.

Responsibilities:

  • Turn on computer/printer and bring up “My North Ticket” app
  • Print out all “Will Call” tickets and have them ready for patrons
  • Stocking box office with all essential items needed to sell tickets
  • Have an updated list of future events and be prepared to sell tickets for any/all events (if available)
  • Greet patrons with a smile
