I am a Manistee native (and the News Years baby of 1957). After living almost forty years in Colorado and teaching in the Boulder Valley School District, I am once again home.
While teaching I received many accolades as an educator such as, Colorado Teacher of the Year Finalist. This recognition led the way for several Freeman Foundation Fellowship Grants. This allowed me to travel and experience Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea. I was able to enhance my knowledge of the cultures, customs, traditions and the arts.
I graduated from the Buddhist college of Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I attained my degree in the Eastern Arts. I also have my Masters in Art and Education, Learning and Teaching (MAELT) from Regis University, a Jesuit college in Denver, Colorado.
I was an educator for 37 years, teaching K-5 Art, Kindergarten, 1st grade and Montessori Pedagogy.
I am a bench painter, a muralist, a hand built clay artist, a water colorist, acrylic paint dabbler, Japanese print maker and an always challenging myself kind of Artist.
“To be an artist it takes freedom and courage”.
