MANISTEE’S ESCAPE ROOM
Manistee, MI, Mar. 19, 19 – Manistee’s escape room opens Friday, March 22 at the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts (RRCA)! “The RRCA is providing a new opportunity for the community to take part of this spring break,” said Xavier Verna, Executive Director of the RRCA. “Spring break was the perfect time for the launch of the escape room, and we couldn’t be more excited to offer this new activity and partner with the Vogue.”
The RRCA has partnered with the Vogue Theatre Manistee to promote safe and fun activities during Spring Break. The Vogue shows free movies every year during spring break. After going to the movies, you can get 20% off your escape room ticket. If you go through the escape room at the Ramsdell, you can get a free medium combo coupon to the Vogue. This year, one of the movies the Vogue is showing is ESCAPE ROOM. The Vogue ESCAPE ROOM is a PG-13 drama | mystery | horror | thriller movie. “Patrons should not consider the film as a documentary of what an Escape Room is, “said Sara Herberger of the Vogue Theatre, “instead, the movie is an opportunity to suspend reality and consider, what if innocent fun were to turn to terror? The Ramsdell’s Escape Room experience is different, but we think audiences will enjoy both. We partnered to highlight the value that quality programming can bring to our community.”
Escape rooms are a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand and beat the clock. They are safe, fun, and great as a friend, family, or team building activity. The RRCA chose a theme that offers true historical notes about the Ramsdell. “In the 1930s, the Butterfield Chain leased the Ramsdell, and they intended to mothball the Ramsdell and take it out of competition with their new theatre, the Vogue. Movies were being shown at the Ramsdell during this time. This occurred after the age of Vaudeville,” said Nancy Ferguson, secretary for the RRCA board. “We made up a character that is from the Vaudeville era that plans to trap the Butterfield Chain investors and with a fighting chance, a chance to escape from his riddles.”
